I hope your weekend is going well! I've got the rest of my Tennessee Honeymoon Travel Journal to share with you today. The second part of our trip was visiting Dollywood, which was fantastic...
I expected Dollywood to be really glitzy - kinda like Dolly herself, you know? But it wasn't at all. It was more like a cultural festival combined with some really CRAZY rollercoasters! This picture was taken (by one of those automatic cameras) of Michael and me when we were on the rollercoaster (we're in the back) - look at our faces - EEEEEEEKKKK!!!!!
It was one of those deals where they take everyone's pic during the ride and then you can buy it afterwards if you want to. Of course we had to buy it - it was so funny! I just put the picture and the frame-folder it came in, right in the book. The next page is a die-cut postcard of the ride (It was called the Tennessee Tornado)...
The musician on the bottom was part of a series of artistically-photographed Nashville Musicians, that were in the Nashville Travel guide. I thought they were cool, so I included them here and there throughout the journal...
Smokey Mountain National Park was beautiful! Here I made a pocket from some "Thickers" packaging to house the map of the park. At the Park Gift Shop, I bought a package of little cards with pictures of animals that are native to the area, and sprinkled them throughout the journal too (like the bears)...
One of the things we talked about on the trip was how when time feels like its actually going at the right speed - its no longer flying by in the blink of an eye, faster than you can possibly get things done; nor taking sooooo long because you are bored; when you are able to enjoy each day and go to bed at night feeling like it was well spent - that's when you are living at godspeed. That's how we felt on this trip. Oh, and p.s. we saw a bear! You can just view his backside on the bottom right picture...
Back to Dollywood the next day, and I was particularly interested in the demonstration of hand-marbling paper...
The background paper on the left is a paperbag and on the right is the map of Dollywood that they hand out to everyone...
I loved the bluegrass music and the all the ducks wandering around, looking for handouts...
Back to our cabin for the last night...
Made a pocket for some ephemera with a piece of transparency and happy tape...
The last night we stayed in downtown Nashville...
I included an article from the travel guide about the history of the city...
Made a pocket at the back for some notes we took on the plane, about the highlights of our first year together...
And the last page. The photo on the right was the view from our cabin. It was a wonderful trip...
So that's it! I hope you enjoyed seeing our journal! This year it will be Honeymoon Four already, and we are going to Colorado!
I will be back tomorrow with an art journal update.
P.S. I'm getting so excited to tell you my big news!!! It won't be long now.....
