I LOVE this desk. It belonged to my Grandparents on my mom's side;
and I have many great memories of it in their house. Here is the before
of how it looked on the inside...
First thing I did was empty the whole thing out, and give it a good cleaning and shining. I even got out the q-tips to get in all the carved nooks and crannies. Then I removed the door and put it away for safekeeping...
and here is the after...
I even managed to put some stuff up on the wall to complete the look!
I filled the cubbies with bits and bobs that I use in my collage work. Tags, labels, postcards, bakers twine, etc...
Thank you so much to Teresa Robinson of the Right Brain Planner, for issuing this challenge! It got me going on a project I've been putting off for too long! I am so happy to have my beloved desk all cleaned up!
How about you? Do you have any declutter projects going?
Looks amazing! I loveeeee that desk!!! Adam is leaving the nest in May ... so we will be then ... Brookie will be moving into his room, and I will be moving my crafty stuff into her room ... then the toy/craft/old TV/old love seat family room will become a REAL FAMILY ROOM fully furnished! LOL!! My summer is gonna be insanely busy!! LOL!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing this. My dad passed away in October and before he died he asked what I was going to do with his desk. I said it was mine! He just laughed and said he thought so. We put it in our living room and I started putting art supplies in the cubbies and drawers. I put his prized elephant collection in the top behind glass doors. And I love it. I love the little cubbies. I keep my cherished happy mail in them. I love seeing what artists put in these desks. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHa, the whole apartment needs decluttering (as we still didn't decorate or even unpack all the boxes after our move... and it's been a year now!)I cannot even think where to start (but then again, my beloved isn't keen on starting 'cause he wants to get out of here and move again anyway... big issue.) Ah well, my atelier is kinda neat and workable, I'll manage.
ReplyDeleteWay to go Michelle!! Looks great! Enjoy this special little space.
