The Joyful Journey...Project Catwalk Week 13

We were given the go-ahead to publicly post our Project Catwalk collections this morning so I want to share mine with you.

I really enjoyed creating my first collection. I call it "The Joyful Journey." What I hope to convey is a joyful feeling about life and all the little things there are to be grateful for every day we are here. My five pieces include: 1. 12 x 12 layout "The Joy is in the Journey"
I used a combination of traditional patterned paper, dictionary pages, gift wrap and woodgrain contact paper. The title letters are hand-drawn and cut, as are the clouds and everything else in the layout with the exception of the little bird stamp.

2. Journal "Traveling Companion - because the journey is worth documenting"
This is a completely handmade journal. The inside pages are cut from a design magazine, and the cover is a cereal box covered with patterned paper and bound with embroidery floss. The little black bird is a stamp, but the polkadot bird is my own creation. Title letters are hand-drawn and cut, as are the tabs on the right side.

3. Magnetic Inspiration Board "Follow Your Heart"
This is a magnet board that I made from a washboard I got at the hardware store. I painted the wood with acrylic paint. For the top portion that says "Follow Your Heart," I used a combination of patterned paper, gift wrap, dictionary pages and pink paint. The title letters and bird and clouds are hand-drawn and cut. The magnets are decorated with American Crafts Flair adhesive buttons. This is meant to be a board to hang messages, pictures, notes, etc. (it helps to click on the image to make it bigger and see more of the details on this one)

4. Artist Inspiration Cards and Carrying Pouch
These are 4" x 6" cards that are made to be inspiration/affirmation cards for artists. On the front of each card is an inspirational message, and the back of the card has an excerpt from a book by an artist that inspires me. The excerpt further emphasizes the message on the front of the card. In the picture you can see two card fronts and one card back. I completed three cards, and made a bunch more blanks, so that as I find inspirational messages in books, I can add to this deck. The pouch is made from flannel which is lined with hot pink cotton on the inside and is completely handstitched.

5. ATC Mini-Album "Simple Joys"
This mini-album is meant to show a few of the simple things in life that bring joy to my days. It is made from scraps of the same patterned papers that were used in the other projects in the collection. I took the album apart so that you could see each page. (click on the image to see each page in more detail)

I encourage you to head over to SiSTV and check out all the participants' collections in the project catwalk gallery - they are truly AMAZING! I wish everyone the best of luck in the rest of this competition! As for me, I feel like no matter what happens now, I have done my best and I am happy with that!

I will be back tomorrow with pics of the beautiful new paper I got in the mail today from Lucy Folch, as well as my new Scrapping The Music layout (which I haven't even made yet - yikes, I better get going on it!)

Have a great, creative, inspiring weekend everyone!
