Hello and good Monday to you all! I hope your week is getting off to a good start! Mine is starting early. I laid down around 5pm yesterday for a little napinski, and didn't wake up till 2:00 this morning - eek! So now I am up for the day and enjoying the quiet of the pre-dawn world.
Today's NaNoJouMo page is one I did in my Fauxbonichi/Bullet Journal. I am combining them these days, and enjoying the process of adding all kinds of little bits and pieces to record my day. I used inktense pencils and watercolors for the blue jay drawing, and discovered that the graph paper in my Inkwell Press journal held up really well! There's no bleed thru or show through to the next page - yeayyy!
Hi friends! I'm so excited to say that I have finished the last page of one of my art journals! My page for Day 22 of NaNoJouMo is the inside back cover of my "Follow Your Own Beat" journal. Here's how it turned out...
Day 22
Step Into My Shoes
Cutting and pasting random bits of colorful paper is one of the most calming activities I know of. Would you agree? These are just bits out of my scrapbox. I added a few words cut from magazines, cuz they spoke to me in light of the current situation on this planet. The joyful jumping boys just made me feel happy.
I am planning to do a flipthru of this journal after the challenge is over and I have a little more time.
Thanks for visiting! I wish you a heavenly Sunday!
Hi friends! For today's journal page, I completed my take on Donna Downey's Life Book lesson called "Finding Strength." It ended up not looking much like the class project, but it definitely was inspired by it, incorporates some of the techniques, and represents finding strength to me!
Hi Friends! Today's page is another intuitive painting that started with left over paint swiped on the page, and evolved a little bit at a time from there. The finishing touch was the bits of white paint marker on the flower, and the book page cutout...
Hi friends! It's a catch-up day today; I've got days 18 and 19 of the NaNoJouMo challenge to share with you! Both are intuitive paintings, inspired by Lifebook 2015 Lessons...
Day 17:
Stripes and Flowers
(inspired by Flora Bowley's Lifebook lesson on intuitive painting)
Flora's lesson was all about playing with layer after layer of randomness, until an idea or image presents itself. This is another one I started a long time ago, and finally finished. Love the process and plan to use it more and more in the future!
Day 18:
Listening to my Inner Child
(inspired by Chris Zydel's Intuitive Painting lesson in Lifebook 2015)
This is the first of a three-step process in Chris' lesson. It requires you put a five minute time limit on yourself and paint like you are three years old. I started with crayon scribbles (which you can still see peeking out in the middle of the painting); and added lots and lots of drips. It's a fun process, and great way to get a journal page done quick!
Hi friends! Sorry I'm a bit late with posting today's page. I always do my memory keeping planner page on Sunday nights, and this week it was a little more time-consuming than usual. Not sure why - some weeks just take more time than others I guess.
Day 17:
This Week in my Memory-keeping Planner...
This week's pages are full of emotion - both happy and sad...
I added in two flaps to show my new art supplies that arrived this week; mostly stuff for upcoming workshops.
I want to give a special shout-out to Carolyn Forinash Kirstine and Angel of Hope Animal Rescue for helping us out this week. We had a sweet little stray kitten show up at our door last week. We don't know where he came from, and despite exhaustive efforts, we couldn't find his owners. Carolyn and AOH were kind enough to offer him shelter and help him find a forever home. With Carolyn's blessing, I am sharing her Facebook post about the little guy here (isn't he adorable?!)... Thank you so much Carolyn and Angel of Hope!
Here's the whole spread with the flaps open. At the bottom of the right page is a buddhist prayer that felt right for all the emotion of this week...
Hi friends! It's day 16 of NaNoJouMo, and my page for today comes from my Bullet/Fauxbonichi Journal. I've included the elements from the Fauxbonichi Journalers "Five on Friday" prompt, which include:
1. The fifth sheet down in a paper stack
2. Something calendar related
3. An image of someone special
4. An arrow or two
5. A clock
Day 16:
"We All Grieve In Our Own Way"
The bird on the flower is hand-drawn and colored with Tombow Markers. He is inspired by a photo I saw on pinterest. The two little kitties are stamps from the Cocoa Daisy December planner kit. I colored them to represent Willie and Johnny. :) The alarm clock is a stamp from the Sweet Stamp Shop.
I wish you a beautiful Monday! Thanks so much for visiting!
Hi again friends! I love meeting like this every day! I hope you are enjoying it too!
It's day 15 of National Nonstop Journaling Month - we're halfway there! Woo hoo!!! Today's page is one of those that I had barely started, and then gave up on cuz I wasn't happy with how it was going. I wish now that I would have taken a picture for you to see where it was when I gave up. Drat. I will remember next time. Anyhoo, last night I tried again, and - on a new day, with a fresh perspective everything felt different, and I had alot of fun with it.
Day 15:
"Nite Magic"
"At nite, when the world has slunk back into it's cavern and left dreamers to their own, there come inspirations and capabilities impossible at any less magical hour." ~H.P. Lovecraft
It's no secret that I believe in the magic of night time. I am at my happiest and most productive when I stay up all night and sleep during the day. This however, makes it difficult to live in the real world of dentist appointments and lunches with friends. So I go back and forth, trying to find the balance which continually eludes me. Do any of you resonate with this? For more info on NaNoJouMo, click here.
Hi friends! It's day 13 of NaNoJouMo, and I'm noticing something. I definitely have a rhythm to my creating. I seem to go back and forth - one complicated, time consuming art journal page, followed by a quick one, then back to a more complex one. This is a good thing for me to realize, because after this challenge is over; I know that I can keep the groove going by following this pattern. In the past, I've started to feel drained when trying to do a page every day; and I realize now it's because I kept trying to do time-consuming pages, one after another. I guess my brain just needs a break in between. Do you find this to be true in your creative practice?
So, on to the page for Day 13. This page was created with the black paint that was leftover on my palette from yesterday's page. I had a song in my head at the time, so I grabbed a page in my journal that already had a background, and wrote the lyrics on the page. I've been thinking it would be fun to do a canvas like this, so it was good practice. Here's how it turned out...
Day 13:
All I Ever Need is You
The lyrics aren't meant to be legible, and it's a good thing cuz they are wrong! HA. It's the song how I remembered it, now how it actually is; but that doesn't really matter, does it? I don't think so.
Just for fun, here's the song. Do you remember this one?
Hi friends! I'm so excited to share my page with you today! My friend Jessica Sporn has just launched her first two online workshops, and she was kind enough to ask me to review one for her. I know Jessica's talent and I love everything that woman makes! Of course I said yes, and I couldn't wait to get started!
The workshop I chose to take was her Village Shadowbox Tutorial. Since I am doing the Nonstop Journaling challenge, I turned it into an Art Journal page, rather than a shadowbox. Oh, what fun I had creating my little village!!! Here's how it turned out...
Day 12:
"My Little Village"
I can honestly say this is one of my favorite journal pages in a long time! The best part was playing around with the houses. She gives you the general guidelines, but then you can go to town creating your own whimsical designs. It's a blast, and it helped me learn to not be so literal about what a house should look like. The whimsy is in the details! Jessica teaches lots of easy techniques within this one class, that you could use in lots of other projects. I could totally see making this into the intended shadowbox or even a canvas, and giving it to a loved one for the holidays. It would be such a fun gift!
Hi friends! It's day 11 of the National Nonstop Journaling Month (NaNoJouMo) challenge! Today's page is in my Inkwell Press Journal, which I'm using as a combo bullet journal (task list) and fauxbonichi (daily writing and drawing).
I combined a bunch of stuff on this page, so it took me awhile. Two prompts from the Fauxbonichi Journalers group (Tangle Tuesday and Hand-lettering Graffiti Style); and the Decade Thirty Question (What do you want to remember from today)
